A Swingin' Beginning

The MoodSwings began when a group of six female musicians found each other through their love of jazz.

The MoodSwings
was founded in 2005.
They wanted to create a welcoming and nurturing environment to grow and share their passion. Starting in small coffee houses in the Seattle area, the MoodSwings were born! Over the years, our group has grown to a full big band capacity, including singers, soloists and several friends along the way. All the while we adhere to our core values: musicianship, encouragement and friendship. This camraderie can be heard in our trademark sound.

Vision and Mission

In 2009 The MoodSwings applied for Nonprofit status. Our members are very active in the community, and donate their time and energy to sustaining the group. We love supporting other womens groups in the area as well.

Our Mission Statement

As a performing arts group, the MoodSwings Jazz Band aims to inspire a love of jazz to the members of the greater community by:

I just wanted to say another BIG thank-you to
The MoodSwings for their great contribution
to our Dinner Show entertainment last weekend.
The band and the soloists were so talented
and wonderful to listen to. It was perfect dinner
music. It was great dancing music. There were
many great comments talking to people afterwards.
Thanks again so much.

What sets us apart? We love our music, we care about our audiences and we truly support our members and that kind of camaraderie really shows through during our performances. We work very hard to perfect the music so all generations of a family will come away from our gigs feeling happy and fulfilled.

Active Musicians

Members of the MoodSwings
range from
teenage to retiree.

Our members come from all around the Seattle area. We call south Seattle, Bellevue, Lynnwood, Snohomish and Mukilteo home. Students, teachers, gardeners, computer programmers, and stay-at-home moms fill our ranks. Despite our differences, the MoodSwings are a family. All of our full-time members are female, though we do have a few men to fill in when a regular musician is unavailable. We practice weekly, honing our sound and our skills. This dedication to our craft shows in our professionalism and friendships.
